If you’ve ever had to deal with faulty wheels in a boat, you know how inconvenient they can be when it comes to getting quality training in. However, replacing them can seem like a tedious task. In this video, I break down how to change out the wheels on a seat into a few easy steps, so you don’t have to guess when it comes to one of the most important pieces of hardware in your boat.
- All you really need is a 10mm wrench, but to speed things up you can also use a power drill with a 10mm socket.
- If you are using the power drill, be sure to firmly hold the seat down with your free hand so it doesn’t whip up and hit you.
- First, you want to take either your 10mm wrench or socket and find the bolt heads situated in the center of the wheels.
- Proceed to loosen them until you can turn them with your fingers, then remove them entirely from the axle tube. Repeat this process on the remaining wheel on the side you are working on, leaving the wheels on the opposite side secured to keep the axle tube in place.
- With the old wheel removed, take your replacement wheel and insert the bolt through the center hole. On the inside, put the lockwasher on first followed by the flat washer.
- Then, proceed to put the bolt back into the axle tube, finger tightening until you can’t go any further.
- Tighten down the hardware fully with either your wrench of drill socket, taking care not to tighten too much as to not warp the axle.
- Repeat this process on the opposite side if you wish to replace the remaining wheels.
