Ed is a 1999 graduate of Colorado State University, where he earned a bachelor’s of science degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on composite materials wherein he designed a carbon composite monocoque racing shell and help develop a race car for Detroit’s Formula SAE competition. In 2000, Ed worked on Carter Copter’s prototype helicopter, building prepreg carbon composite rotor blades and propeller.
At the end of 2000, Ed relocated to the East Coast to work as a design engineer at Quantum Racing. He was part of the team that built Quantum’s high modulus carbon fiber composite rowing shells. In 2004, Ed joined the WinTech Racing team working closely with renowned designer, Klaus Filter, and the many technicians at the Flying Eagle Boat Company to develop and implement innovations and improvements to WinTech’s shells and other products.
