Research & Development
David is a 2000 graduate of Bowdoin College where he was a four-year oarsman. David stroked Bowdoin’s Open 4+ to a New England and Dad Vail Championship in 2000 and continue on to compete at the famed Henley Royal Regatta in Great Britain.
Upon graduation, David started coaching at his alma mater with Gil Birney, helping crews achieve multiple New England and Dad Vail championships over five years. During this period, he also became one of the first employees of Quantum Racing shells, drawing upon his rowing background while learning the process of advanced technology composite boat building from the ground up.
Quantum Racing Shells rising reputation led to a joint venture with WinTech Racing. David joined WinTech Racing in 2004 and worked for many months at the Flying Eagle Boat Company, WinTech’s manufacturing facility. There, along side Head Designer Klaus Filter and Chief Engineer Ed Hofmeister, he helped revamp the boat construction process and train technicians in composite technology application. Dave continues to spend several months each year with Klaus and the team at Flying Eagle, developing new innovations and improvements. This research and development cycle, with continuous feedback from WinTech’s nationwide sales force to the R&D team, is one of the foundations of the company’s growth.
